Unveiled over the weekend at Circuit de la Sarthe, Akio Toyoda took the covers off the Toyota Gazoo Racing H2 Racing Concept! With the organizer of Le Mans 24 Hours recently announcing that hydrogen engine vehicles can compete alongside fuel cell electric vehicles in the race’s hydrogen category, this racecar was made with the future in its sights.

Toyota has already been running a hydrogen engine powered Corolla in Japan’s Super Taikyu Series since 2021 and the same car also raced in Thailand’s Super Endurance series last year. Doing this has helped the Japanese brand accelerate development of its hydrogen technologies as well as the logistics surrounding it. This includes the production, transport and storage of hydrogen!
