As the Official Vehicle Partner for Rugby World Cup France 2023 and a Worldwide Partner for the event, Defender has unveiled a car with a rather special purpose. Meet a Defender 110 like no other! This one is an electric hybrid and comes with a bespoke trophy cabinet to “safely and securely” exhibit the Webb Ellis Cup.
In the rear of this one-off Defender is an illuminated trophy cabinet, state of the art temperature and lighting control to make sure the famed trophy is always visible. With only 100 days to go until Rugby World Cup France 2023 (RWC2023), this Defender 110 is tasked with taking the trophy on a tour of France.
A special creation from Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations division in Coventry, the car has been developed with sustainability in mind while showcasing the famous trophy without compromising the Defender’s silhouette. A special Rugby World Cup France 2023 livery has also been applied across the bonnet and doors of the car.
The tour begins on the 9th of June at the ‘Top 14 Semi Finals’ in Biarritz and concludes on the 14th of August in Cap Ferret. The tournament’s opening match is on the 8th of September in Saint-Denis at the Stade de France.
