The next generation of the Nissan Navara is very much a global product, but it is also being tuned by us, for us. The brand has confirmed that the upcoming ute has been extensively tested and tuned in Australia by local engineering specialists Premcar, ensuring it’s ready for the worksite, the weekend getaway, and pretty much everything in between.
Made for Australia: Nissan Warrior by Premcar program set to expand
In a new video released today, Nissan has given a behind-the-scenes look at the development program for the new Navara ahead of its global reveal. The footage showcases the kind of testing that goes into preparing a ute for life in our corner of the world, where “ute culture” is a part of everyday life.
“In Australia and New Zealand, the ute is just part of life – the weekday workhorse, the weekend adventurer, even the school drop-off,” explains Tim Davis, Senior Manager for Local Product Development at Nissan Australia.
“We can’t just take a ute from another market and assume it’ll fit. It has to be fine-tuned because the conditions here are totally unique.”
That’s where Premcar comes in: also responsible for the Navara Warrior, they have worked hand-in-hand with Nissan, developing and tuning the Navara’s suspension to meet local expectations for comfort, control, and capability. Testing took place across a large range of terrain, from city roads to unsealed tracks, with the ute loaded, unloaded, and towing at capacity, all to make sure the Navara performs just as confidently off-road as it does on the motorway.
“They’ve put it through a brutal local tuning and testing program right here in Australia,” Davis adds. “The goal is simple: to deliver a ute that excels in all scenarios.”
Nissan says this local work builds on nearly four decades of engineering across its ute and SUV lineup. Warwick Daly, Deputy Director of Marketing & Mobility at Nissan Australia, says the results speak for themselves.

The New Navara is due for its global unveiling.
The testing feature available here is the final teaser before the full global unveiling later this month. Once revealed, the new Navara is set to arrive in Australian and New Zealand showrooms in the first half of 2026.
