Subaru’s iconic rally bread road car is back, in an all-new guise! The 2022 model becomes the fifth generation of the Impreza WRX. It’s a mixture of subtle and stark changes both inside and out.
Under the bonnet hides a 2.4l 4-cylinder boxer engine. That 271bhp is put to the wheels through either a conventional manual transmission or Subaru’s Performance Transmission auto. A little bit of familiarity there with the flat four engine.

On the inside, the dashboard is now dominated by an 11.6-inch Subaru Starlink infotainment unit. The 2022 WRX also includes the company’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology suite. This now includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth and TomTom navigation too! There is an optional 11-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and a 504W amplifier which is fine tuned specifically for the WRX.
The WRX now features a top of the line GT trim model which comes with electronically adjustable Recaro seats and 18 inch wheels. Couple that with the improved suspension and body rigidity means the ride is smoother than ever.

Subaru’s ‘Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive’ and torque vectoring come as standard across all WRX models. To further improve the performance, the gear ratios have been optimized with the automatic offering 30% faster upshifts and 50% faster downshifts. The automatic transmission version also offers 3 driving modes through the SI-Drive Performance Management System.

For the first time ever, the WRX is built on Subaru’s Global Platform which means better safety, dynamic ability and ride refinement. Despite the controversial looks, this new Impreza WRX is going to be one to watch!
