Let’s get things straight first, the 2021/22 Hyundai IONIQ 5 was a pretty sensational car and now Hyundai have gone and added a whole host of upgrades for the 2023 model year! Starting with the technology, a heads up display with AR (augmented reality), in-car household socket, larger battery and more powerful motor headline the upgrades.

Remember that the first iteration of this car won the New Zealand Car of the Year, World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle of the Year and World Car Design of the Year! Built on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, the 2023 model comes with three battery choices. Buyers can choose between 58 kWh, 72.6 kWh and 77.4 kWh powerplants. There are four different power outputs and two drive layouts to be had as well!

The range topping model offers either a 72.6 kWh or 77.4 kWh battery coupled with AWD to produce 239kW and 605Nm with the resulting 0-100 time being just over 5 seconds! Max driving range comes from the 2WD 72.6 kWh option, resulting in a 481km WLTP range.

Another feather in Hyundai’s cap is that despite the rising cost of living, the 58 kWh option remains at $79,990 as does the 72.6 kWh with its $89,990 price tag. The top spec 77.4 kWh model with the vision roof is priced at $117,990!
