Peugeot have seen a renaissance of late where after years of being in the shadows, the brand has been thrust back into the limelight. Thanks to some very good looking cars and a range of fuel efficient ‘Pure Tech’ engines, the brand has seen some excellent performance recently. And that trend is set to keep going as Peugeot announced earlier that their range of fuel sipping cars will be joined by a series of low emission vehicles!
Peugeot’s range of low emission vehicles or ‘LEVs’ will include plugin hybrids along with with pure electric cars. The announcement to widen the range follows Europe where Peugeot are one of the few carmakers who actually adhere to EU’s emissions standard. We all know how tough those are so this is no easy feat.
Peugeot’s flagship ‘LEV’ car at the moment is the 3008 plug-in hybrid SUV. It makes use of a petrol engine and two electric motors to put out 300bhp! In pure EV mode, the 3008 will do 59km which is more than enough for most people’s commute. While in hybrid mode, the SUV will manage an incredible figure of 1.2kmpl! Just let that sink in for a minute. The 3008 doesn’t just succeed where the efficiency is concerned, it will also swallow everything a family has to throw at it thanks to the fact that the batteries are under the rear seats.
Making the most of the government’s recent announcement, Peugeot will bring in their e-208 hatch, e-2008, 308 & 508 PHEV along with the e-Expert van. All of these models are set to start arriving on our shores soon.
