Hyundai has taken the covers off their new Ioniq 6 “Electrified Streamliner” in their latest announcement. The 6 becomes the newest addition to the Ioniq sub-brand and stands out thanks to a distinct design as well as tech, features and an extended range.

Ioniq 6 will deliver an estimated WLTP range of 610 km which can be restored quickly thanks to 400V or 800V charging courtesy of Hyundai’s e-GMP platform. The key thing to note is that 6 is the most aerodynamically styled Hyundai to date. Other headline additions include Dual colour ambient lighting, Speed Sync lighting, EV performance tune-up and Electric Active Sound Design (e-ASD)!

A unique style sets the 6 apart in the EV world

Measuring in at just under 4.9m long, 1.88m wide and 1.49m tall, the Ioniq 6 has a unique design which is complimented by a choice of two different wheel sizes, either 18 or 20inches available. This sizing helps with an interior that has been designed as a “personalized hideaway”. The Dual Colour Ambient Lighting offers a range of 64 different colours and 6 different themes for optimum customization. Speed Sync also means that the intensity of the front row interior lighting will adapt based on the vehicle’s speed.

Technology is certainly very prominent in the 6 with the EV Performance Tune-Up system allowing the driver to change steering effort, motor power, accelerator pedal sensitivity and driveline mode to suit best. While the e-ASD system pipes in a spaceship like noise that changes based on the driving status.

Long range power is courtesy of a 77.4kWhr battery that can be had in either all wheel drive or rear wheel drive guises. The range topping AWD dual motor car produces 239kW and 605Nm of torque which means a 0-100 time of 5.1 seconds. With a rated consumption of 14kWhr/100km, the 53kWhr battery is one of the most efficient on the market. Then, when it’s time for a top-up, a 350kW charger will take the battery from 10 to 18 percent in 18 minutes. Similar to the Ioniq 5, the 6 also has the vehicle to load plug which means you can charge your personal devices from the car.

Two 12 inch screens complete the feeling of the future on the inside with Bluetooth multi connection available which will feed through an 8 speaker Bose unit. Hyundai’s most advanced SmartSense suite of safety features is also available which includes Highway Driving Assist 2, Smart Cruise Control and many more innovative features. 12 exterior colours and four interior options complete the package.

Production of the Ioniq 6 is set to begin this quarter.
