First making its debut in 1976, the Honda Accord has officially turned 50 years old! To mark the occasion, the Japanese automaker will create a special exhibit at the Honda Collection Hall in Motegi. A line of 50th anniversary merchandise has also been unveiled along with a commemorative video which will debut at the end of this month.

Throughout its 50 years, the Accord has been driven by “environmental performance, driving performance and safety”, on a global scale. After all, its one of the few Japanese vehicles that has been in the American market since the very first generation model. Honda was also the first Japanese automaker to begin production in the States, the Accord being the first to roll off the line.

It boasts several Japanese Car of the Year awards too with the third, fifth and seventh generation vehicles all taking out the crown. 25 million units later, the Accord has become a staple of Honda’s global lineup, having been sold in over 160 countries across the globe!

A range of t-shirts, caps, mugs and keyholders will be available through Honda’s Amazon store as well as online via the Suzuka Circuit and Motegi. Leather goods are also on offer, made from recycled Accord seat covers via COTOCUL, a Kyoto based leather accessories brand.
