Renault has become the first car brand to offer Waze navigation inbuilt into its infotainment systems. Waze is integrated into the manufacturer’s OpenR Link multimedia system integrated with Google. Currently offered on the 12-inch screens of the new Austral and Megane E-Tech.

The main objective is driver safety because the driver can now access real time traffic updates, saved destinations and popular routes without the use of a smartphone. It’s worth noting that other key features like music etc will also remain open while Waze is operational on screen. For now though, this upgrade is only available on the two aforementioned models in Europe. A key driver of this being that Waze has more than 20 million users in France alone!

Renault’s customers can either download the Waze app for OpenR Link via the Google Play Store or from their ‘My Renault’ mobile app. Both options are completely free!
