ABT Cupra will compete in Season 9 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Based on the success of Cupra’s Extreme E campaign, this was a natural next step in the fully electric future of the brand. The ABT Cupra Formula E Team will field veteran Robin Frijns and Nico Muller for the team’s inaugural season.

The racecar will wear a striking livery

Cupra was originally launched as Seat’s performance arm and has since gone on to really hone its racing DNA. Cupra developed the first 100% electric touring car and took part in Extreme E. Aiming to be fully electric by 2030, this is a huge step towards that goal.

ABT Cupra already compete together in Extreme E

With an aim to “inspire the world from Barcelona”, Cupra’s passion for racing and sustainability made it a natural fit for Formula E. The two names are also present in the metaverse with an official blockchain racing game! Further, ABT and Cupra competing together is set to strengthen the visibility of both brands as well as their relationship, extending from Extreme E.

Formula E is a hotbed of innovation for EV manufacturers so we can expect to see ABT and Cupra put their best foot forward with Mahinda Racing supplying the powertrain technology!
