GoodnessMe – Team Goodies did well on the 2025 Pork Pie Charity Run

GoodnessMe – We caught up with Team Goodies, featuring the dynamic duo James and Kelly from Beachlands, who were tackling the 2025 Pork Pie Charity Run with their signature blend of heart, humour, and (Mini) horsepower. As three-time participants in this grand Kiwi bi-annual tradition, the couple is no stranger to the intricacies of a charity-fueled escapade across New Zealand. Leaving their three kids—Aria, Blake, and Karwyn—at home for a week, they swapped the chaos of family life for a 2,300km adventure that stretched from Paihia in the North to Invercargill in the South. For Team Goodies, it’s all about combining their love for good food, cherished cars, and community impact into one unforgettable journey.

Their motivation? To help raise critical funds for KidsCan, a charity that supports underprivileged children with essentials like food, warm clothing, and health supplies. With every $360 raised, another child receives a year’s worth of life-changing support, and Team Goodies has their sights set on smashing their $20,000 goal. So far, they’ve raised over $16,000, translating into 44 children supported for a year—a testament to the power of determination and generosity.

James and Kelly’s story resonates with admirers and donors alike. Contributions pour in from all over, as evidenced by heartfelt messages from supporters like Pukenui School’s donation of $112 with a touching note: “Thank you for visiting us in the far north,” and many others cheering on as they make their mark on this incredible cause.

A trio of Minis gathered in Paihia for the 2025 Pork Pie Charity Run.

But it’s not all about the fundraising—the journey itself is as much about camaraderie as it is about charity. The team joins a vibrant convoy of 50 MINIs, encompassing both restored classics and cutting-edge modern models, each buzzing with a shared sense of purpose and nostalgia. Standout vehicles like the iconic “MiniMack” and crowd-favorite “PPIE” ensure every pit stop is filled with storytelling and awe, while MINI New Zealand amplifies the spirit of giving by sponsoring lunches and promoting their ethos of “BIG LOVE”.

For James and Kelly, driving in the Pork Pie Charity Run is more than just a road trip, it’s a heartfelt mission to inspire others and leave a tangible impact on Kiwi communities. As they cross the finish line in Invercargill, Team Goodies celebrates not only the drive through stunning landscapes but also the drive for change. And if their journey proves anything, it’s this: small cars can make monumental moves, and big hearts can change the lives of New Zealand’s littlest ones.
