Early next year, BMW New Zealand will debut the new iX1 eDrive20, expanding the iX1 lineup. A premium compact SUV, this new addition will increase the iX1’s appeal to more customers seeking an emissions free drive.
Powered by an electric motor with 150kW of power under a temporary boost, it boasts a range of 430-475kms WLTP. As with EVs, the torque is available instantly and in this iX1 eDrive20 is a respectable 247Nm figure. The result is a 0-100kmh time of 8.6s and the car will keep going to an electronically limited 170kmh.
A 64.7kWhr battery sits under the floor, offering a high energy density and combined with the e-motor results in an impressive range from the resulting battery size. Three phase AC charging is available with an output of up to 22kW, allowing for a max charge time of 3hrs and 45 minutes. DC charging of up to 130kW is also available with a 10% to 80% taking just 29 minutes at a fast charging DC station.
There’s plenty of tech upgrades on the interior too with BMW Operating System 9 paving the way for even more customization. BMW Digital Premium offering provides third-party apps, extended navigation services through a BMW Curved Display. A 10.25inch Information Display and 10.7inch Control Display display BMW’s latest iDrive features to the driver.
Pricing and specs will be announced closer to the launch date early next year.
