Bentley have just announced their first venture into NFT territory. It will carried out through a one time drop on the carbon neutral Polygon network. The event is schedule for September 2022 and the release will be limited to just 208 pieces. A significant number because it is the top speed of the brand’s fastest car, the Continental GT Speed but it is also the total number of 1952 R-Type Continentals produced. A car which inspired Bentley’s design language of today.

Bentley’s genesis NFT will be a unique artwork created by Bentley Design and will offer a new dimension for connection between the brand and its fans. The token will be minted on Polygon which is an Ethereum scaling platform. Sorry for the jargon! Bentley chose to launch their NFT in this way because Polygon is carbon neutral certified and aims to be carbon negative by the end of this year. Bentley on the other hand is aiming for carbon neutrality by 2030.

This is the beginning of a new frontier for the iconic brand as Bentley looks to enter online gaming, Metaverse, NFCs (non-fungible chips) and blockchain. Owners of a Bentley NFT will be treated to unique experiences and benefits which will be announced soon. Proceeds from this will go towards the brand’s philanthropic efforts.
