Overnight, Aston Martin took the covers off their spectacular new V12 Vantage! And while it might seem to be a piece of good news at first glance, there’s some bad news as well. Firstly, this will be the brand’s last ever V12 Vantage so this model is quite special. Secondly, Aston will only build 333 models which have all been sold out already!

With the bad news out of the way, how about some good stuff?

Aggressive styling and a rear spoiler are among its differentiating factors

Aston’s famous 5.2 litre twin turbo V12 lives on once more. Seen before under the bonnet of the DB11 and DBS, a significant tune has meant that this engine isn’t quiet the same beast anymore. 690bhp means this Vantage will hit the 100kph mark in 3.4 seconds!

The company remarked that “the engine is the heart of every Aston Martin but more so than in this”. It’s clear that Aston want this to be a special car.

Since the concept was floated in 2007, automotive fans around the globe have revered Aston’s vision to install their biggest engine in their smallest car. My word, what a recipe that has been! It was only fitting that the final send-off would be the most powerful Vantage ever.

As you can see, the upgrades aren’t just limited to performance alone. To make up for having a heavier power unit at the front. Aston have re-engineered the bonnet, front bumper, wings, sills, rear bumper and deck lid which are all made from carbon fibre. Furthermore, a lightweight battery and exhaust system add a saving of 7.2kgs.

Weighing in at just under 1,800 kg, it isn’t surprising that this V12 Vantage is a heavy car but with a power to weight ratio of 385bhp per tonne, we don’t think you’ll notice!

The suspension springs, anti roll bar and various mounts have also been stiffened to give this V12 coupe a sharp turn in. Carbon ceramic brakes and a faster steering wheel set-up are also part of the performance upgrades. All these new additions mean that the Vantage’s width has increased by 40mm on each side! Make no mistake, Aston have gone all out to make this an aggressive vehicle both in style and in character.

For those of you who aren’t too keen on the colour scheme of this launch car, you’ll be happy to know Aston Martin is offering its ‘Q’ personalisation service to buyers. So you can rest easy knowing that it iss unlikely you will ever see an identical car on the road!

Aston Martin is one of the last manufacturer’s to still sell V12 engines cars and their CEO has confirmed that this engine will be around for a while. He’s quite keen to see the power unit used in other sportscars in future. A good sign!

What a way to bid adieu to one of Aston Martin’s most famous names.
