Something significant was unveiled over the weekend at the new Alpine Paddock Centre near Le Mans. Covers came off the A424_B, a product of the collaboration between Alpine and Oreca. This hypercar will represent the A-arrow in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) from 2024.
An endurance racing staple since 2013, Alpine has doubled down on its commitment to racing with the A424 which will compete in the top tier of the sport, WEC. Making the most of LMDh regulations, this racecar will inspire styling cues on future production models from the brand. Come 2024, Alpine will be ready to take on the biggest names in motorsport on the grandest stage.
The name A424_B stems from Alpine’s naming conventions where 4 comes from Alpine’s winning Endurance cars while 24 signifies the 24 Hours of Le Mans and 2024 while ‘B’ or ‘Beta’ represents its pre-launch phase of development. Various parts of the racecar are inspired by the Alpenglow, the French brand’s manifesto for both production and competition cars.
