Lotus fans across the country have another reason to smile this morning as the revised Emira range is now available in New Zealand. Furthering the successes of the Emira and Emira V6 First Editions which debuted in 2023 and 2022 respectively, the new lineup includes the Emira Turbo, Turbo SE and V6.
The revised lineup takes the range from two cars to three, bringing improvements to both the design and performance aspects of the vehicle. Widely acclaimed for its “outstanding aerodynamics” as well its handling abilities, not to mention its eye catching styling, the Emira grabbed headlines all around the world at its launch.
In the four cylinder range, the variable geometry turbocharged Emira now offers 360bhp in the Turbo variant or 400bhp and 50 more Nm of torque in the Turbo SE model, both mated to an 8-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The flagship 3.5 supercharged V6 model remains, boasting 400bhp which can be harnessed through a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The Turbo model now includes single piece brakes, 20 inch 10-spoke lightweight cast alloy wheels, ‘Emira Turbo’ branding, new pedals and a new fabric headliner. ‘Vivid Red’ is now available on the car as well as the Touring suspension set up. Turbo SE extracts even more from this powertrain, 50Nm and 40bhp more allows for a top speed that is 11mph higher and a 0-100kph time of 4 seconds. ‘Lotus Drivers Pack’ comes as standard and brings two piece brakes, Sports suspension, ‘Emira Turbo SE’ badges, black Lotus branding and tailpipes as well as an Alcantara headliner.
Step up into the Emira V6 and you get two piece brakes, specially developed Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport tyres, Touring suspension and a limited slip differential (LSD), new branding and then some!
To many of the brand’s enthusiasts, Emira’s new MY25 range is a nod to Lotus’ strong history, Turbo of course taking inspiration from the Turbo Esprit which debuted in 1980 and was one of the earliest sportscars to employ this technology. Turbo SE, adds to the nostalgia further as SE stood for a ‘Special Equipment’ package available on the Type 14 Elite as well as several other legendary Lotus’ including the Cortina!
