There’s a new Hyundai Kona in town

(Well two actually). The newly enhanced Kona compact SUV and exciting all-new Kona N Line variant has arrived in New Zealand and is available at all Hyundai dealerships.

The small SUV’s exterior design is upgraded with various enhancements that make it even more appealing to customers who lead active lifestyles. With a bold, progressive design and adventurous personality, Hyundai Kona has become an icon in its segment. Design updates, front and rear, give the new Kona a sleek, sophisticated look while keeping its robust signature style.

The redesigned interior of the new Kona expresses a more upscale and progressive look than its predecessor. It features a rugged yet refined style that matches the exterior’s boldness, designed to appeal to customers who lead an active lifestyle. Extra cargo capacity and rear seat legroom offer more accommodation and comfort. This is in addition to a significant technology upgrade that contributes to the interior’s comprehensive update.

The new Kona is equipped with the latest in-car connectivity and technology. New to this model is the option of a 10.25-inch digital cluster. In addition, the new Kona also comes with an optional 10.25-inch touchscreen multimedia system, providing new connectivity features. The new touchscreen also comes with a split-screen function and multiple Bluetooth connections. The Kona is also equipped with a range of safety and driver assistance features.

Hyundai New Zealand General Manager Andy Sinclair says, “The Kona has become a popular compact SUV choice by Kiwis since it launched in 2017. Refreshed with a bold, sleek new look and the latest smart tech, we anticipate this upgraded model to be as popular as the last. And with the arrival of the all-new Kona N Line, upgraded Kona Electric and all-new Kona N in the near future there really is going to be a Kona for everyone.”

The new Kona’s powertrain line-up reaches new heights in terms of performance and sustainability. At the top of the line-up is an enhanced 1.6-litre T-GDI Smartstream engine with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission that delivers strong performance and fuel economy. This powerful, sporty powertrain is available exclusively with a four-wheel drive drivetrain. The 2.0L Nu engine continues to be offered for 2WD models, however enhancements have been made to improve performance and efficiency.

Hyundai has expanded its small SUV line-up by launching the sporty all-new Kona N Line. This attractive entry point to Hyundai’s high-performance N brand is distinguished by signature fascia, body colour claddings and large rear spoiler as well as N Line specific design accents such as diamond-cut wheels.

“The N Line is a nice new addition to the Kona range offering a sportier look and feel as well as driving experience,” adds Mr. Sinclair.

The new Kona (including N Line) comes with five new exterior colours, including Surfy Blue, Dive in Jeju, Ignite Flame, Cyber Grey, and Misty Jungle. These are in addition to five existing colours, including Phantom Black, Chalk White, Dark Knight, Pulse Red and Galactic Grey. Every colour can be combined with the Phantom Black two-tone roof. The two-tone roof also comes with matching mirror housings. This contributes to its sporty and sleek appearance and gives customers more options for personalisation and self-expression.

Pricing starts from $34,990 for the entry level 2.0L Petrol 2WD to $49,990 for the 1.6 GDi Turbo N Line AWD.
