Porsche’s new model-year Cayenne Electric adds optional inductive charging, electric doors, massage seats with 4D audio and Paint to Sample colours.
Plugging in an electric car is hardly hard work, but Porsche reckons it can be made easier still. For the new model year, the Cayenne Electric gets optional inductive charging. Owners simply park over a pad and walk away.
That arrives alongside electrically operated doors, a massage function with 4D audio and a much wider paint palette. The updates cover both the regular SUV and the Cayenne Coupé Electric.

Park Over the Pad and Charge
Porsche Wireless Charging has three parts: hardware preparation on the car, a vehicle pad, and a ground pad fixed in the parking space. The ground pad is weatherproof, so it can also be installed outdoors. Once the car is in position, charging starts automatically.
Porsche quotes up to 11 kW and efficiency of about 90 per cent. Those are the company’s own figures. Still, 11 kW puts this in the same territory as many home AC wallboxes, so it suits overnight top-ups rather than quick stops.

Motion sensors and foreign object detection are built in. Charging stops if a living creature comes near the car or pad, or if a metal object on the pad heats up. Curious cats, it seems, have been accounted for. All components can now be ordered in Germany and other European markets. A staged global rollout follows, with the system planned for every Porsche Connect country except China.
Doors That Do the Work
Electrically operated doors are also offered on the Cayenne for the first time. A brief pull on the handle is enough, and servo motors move all four doors the rest of the way.
Owners can operate them from cabin buttons, the door handles, the PCM Flow Display or the Porsche Digital Key. The driver’s door will also close when the driver fastens the seat belt or presses the brake. Porsche says the doors work on inclines, and sensors stop them if a person or obstacle is detected. Working with the exit warning system, they also stay shut when other vehicles are approaching. Manual operation remains possible at all times.

Massage Seats With a Soundtrack
The front seats can now have a massage function with 4D audio. Each seat has 16 air cushions and six sound actuators, plus five massage programmes adjustable through the central display. The 4D audio can also run by itself, using vibration to add another dimension to music. Three new Wellness Mood Modes combine massage, vibration and curated sound.

More Colours and More Green Inside
The Cayenne Electric now joins Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur’s Paint to Sample programme. Together with the 13 standard colours, buyers can now choose from 105 shades. Inside, the black and green Interior Style Package gains an Extended Package with more leather trim and Delgada Green stitching. Race-Tex options now reach the front and rear seat consoles and the sill trims, each with coloured stitching.

Convenience Over Performance
None of this changes how the Cayenne Electric drives. Instead, Porsche is competing on convenience and personalisation, which matter at this end of the electric SUV market. Wireless charging is the update with the most practical value. For owners with their own parking space, plugging in each night simply stops being a job.
