Castrol has joined forces with Defender as the ‘Official Fluids Partner’ for the 2026 World Rally Raid Championship (W2RC), preparing the Defender D7X-R rally car with the same. The event will take place over a gruelling five rounds which will include the infamous Dakar Rally.

Castrol are already the provider of choice for road going Defenders and now the two brands have taken this relationship off-road. The two brands have been working in tandem thus far to research and improve the technicalities of performance automotive fluids. The end goal is for this technology to translate to the road over time and we will no doubt continue to see improvements in the lead up to next year’s event. The four other stages include Portugal, Argentina, Morocco and Abu Dhabi.

The tournament pits road based racing cars against each other in some of the toughest conditions the world has to offer. Defender will enter with the D7X-R which broke cover at the Goodwood Festival of Speed over the weekend.
