Maserati Announces Motorsport Return with Formula E

It’s been more than a decade since Maserati dominated the circuits with their insane MC12 racecars but the brand have been largely absent from the racing world since then. It gives us great pleasure then to announce that ‘Trident’ is back! Given the direction that the brand has chosen for its future, competing in Formula E made perfect sense.

Maserati will join the racing series in 2023 when the new ‘Gen3’ rules come into effect. Fellow Stellantis owned brand, DS Automobiles have already committed to these rules meaning that the two will likely share technology.

The brand’s commitment to Formula E comes as a huge boost to the series after both Audi and BMW pulled out at the end of last season with Mercedes competing in their last season this year. Maserati of course bring plenty of racing knowledge and heritage with them as they join the racing series of the future! The brand first debuted their racecars over 96 years ago. They would go on to enjoy many successes during the pre-war Grand Prix era as well as the 1950s when a certain Juan Manuel Fangio drove their 250F to victory in 1957.
