Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom is bringing the lovable Gauls to the big screen next year and Citroen will feature in the film! Releasing in France on the 1st of February 2023 and then across the world shortly after. It’s an all new partnership for Citroen as you will see below.

Notice the 2CV silhouette?

For the film, Citroen had to design and create a chariot! The team managed the project to the build stage within a span of 3 months, a process that would normally take 1 year! Taking inspiration from the 2CV, “Project Chariot” translates a French icon into the Gallic way of life. While this isn’t your average Citroen, it still embodies the brand’s values of comfort, technology and bold design!

Featuring Gallic shields and helmets, this is a Citroen like no other!

Featuring suspension made from a boar’s stomach, headlights taken from Gallic helmets and wheels made from recycled shields, this chariot is as period correct as can be! It features in several scenes during the movie and so you should be able to spot Citroen’s famous chevrons on screen.

Citroen’s fresh take on their logo also features on the chariot

There’s a couple of Easter eggs added for Citroen fans too including a 2CV chariot billboard on the Great Wall, harking back to a campaign that the French brand did at the same location. For this unique crossover of two French cultural icons, the Citroen logo will also sport Asterix’s wings.
