The third-generation Audi Q7 has a five-star Euro NCAP rating, and Audi says it is the first production vehicle to score 100 percent in the Post-Crash Safety category.
Crash ratings usually focus on the moment of impact. But what about the minutes that follow? The Audi Q7 has just set a benchmark there. It earned five stars in Euro NCAP testing and a full 100 percent in the Post-Crash Safety category.
According to Audi, the third-generation Q7 is the first production vehicle to reach that maximum post-crash score. The five-star rating comes from Euro NCAP’s independent assessment, and the organisation publishes the detailed results on its website.

What Post-Crash Safety Actually Measures
This part of the test looks past crumple zones and airbags. Euro NCAP checks whether a car alerts emergency services automatically and what vehicle information it passes on. It also checks how easily rescuers can reach the people inside.
The protocol covers some very practical questions. Can the doors be unlocked and opened after an accident? Does the car still work if the low-voltage power supply has failed? Can the seat belt buckles be released? The Q7 also achieved the maximum score in this access and rescue area.
The Technology Doing the Work
Several systems contribute to the result. Audi connect emergency call can start the rescue chain automatically. It sends the legally required data set and can add further vehicle and location information.
Next comes the multicollision brake. Crash sensors detect a significant impact, and the system can then brake the car to a standstill. The parking brake stops the vehicle rolling away and the hazard lights switch on. The driver can override the braking, but the aim is to help prevent a secondary collision.
Finally, Audi supplies rescue data sheets and rescue guides. These give emergency crews information specific to the vehicle. As a result, they can assess the scene more quickly and plan more precisely how to free the occupants.
A Family SUV With a Rescue-Ready Focus
This result comes from a mainstream family car rather than a niche product. The Q7 is a large quattro SUV that seats five, six or seven people, so it often carries whole families. Audi calls the result proof of a “holistic” approach to safety, covering crash avoidance, protection during a collision and support afterwards.
Leave the marketing language aside and the substance still holds, because an independent body has verified the score. Audi adds that its models, from the compact class to premium SUVs, regularly achieve top ratings in NCAP programmes.

Why the Post-Crash Score Matters
Most of us glance at the star count and move on. The post-crash score, however, covers something buyers rarely consider until they need it: how fast help arrives and how easily rescuers can get in.
A perfect score here won’t sell a Q7 on its own. Still, after a crash this car can call for help, report where it is, hold itself in place and give rescuers instructions for getting everyone out. Those are the right things to get right.
