MINI is leaning hard into its motorsport heritage with the launch of the ultra-exclusive 1965 Victory Edition, a bold, Chili Red homage to the legendary Mini Cooper S that conquered the Monte Carlo Rally in 1965. Limited to just 30 units for Australia, this special edition blends retro racing charisma with contemporary performance, landing in showrooms from Q2 2026.

Back in 1965, Timo Mäkinen and co-driver Paul Easter piloted the classic Mini Cooper S to a commanding Monte Carlo victory, earning the car global acclaim for its agility, engineering ingenuity, and ice‑breaking tenacity in brutal winter conditions. That triumphant spirit is the heart and soul of the new 1965 Victory Edition, a celebration of MINI’s proud racing DNA, reinterpreted for a new generation of enthusiasts.

Buyers will get a choice of two high-performance John Cooper Works variants, each tailored to the era they represent. The petrol-powered MINI John Cooper Works runs a 2.0‑litre TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder that produces 231 hp (170 kW) and 380 Nm, launching from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. For those ready to embrace electrified motoring without sacrificing adrenaline, the MINI John Cooper Works Electric steps up with 258 hp (190 kW) and a quicker 5.9‑second sprint to 100 km/h. It’s a clear signal that MINI’s motorsport spirit is charging confidently into the electric age.

Visually, the 1965 Victory Edition swings hard into nostalgia. The striking Chili Red exterior is paired with a crisp white bonnet stripe that stretches across the roof and rear, mirroring the iconic rally car’s livery. A bold white “52” graphic on each side nods directly to the racing number worn by the 1965 champion, while a subtle “1965” badge on the C‑pillar provides a finishing touch of heritage flair.

The edition also gets exclusive wheel treatments: 18‑inch JCW Lap Spoke two‑tone alloys for the petrol version, or JCW Mastery Spoke black wheels for the EV. Floating wheel hubs and edition-specific JCW valve caps round out the racing aesthetic with purposeful detail.

Inside, MINI continues the heritage storytelling with illuminated door sills featuring white “1965” lettering against a red and black backdrop, creating an instant sense of exclusivity. A dedication plaque commemorates the Monte Carlo triumph, while subtle touches, including 1965 badging on the steering wheel’s 6 o’clock spoke and heritage lettering in the centre console, reinforce the tribute theme. Even the key cap carries the classic racing number. The interior is wrapped in MINI’s signature John Cooper Works palette of anthracite and red, balancing motorsport energy with modern craftsmanship.

The timing of this launch couldn’t be better. MINI Australia recorded record-breaking performance for the John Cooper Works portfolio in 2025, with JCW models representing 21 percent of all MINI sales. Electrified MINIs also saw strong momentum, accounting for 31 percent of total sales, a sign that the market is ready for both sides of the Victory Edition lineup.

With only 30 units allocated to Australia and pricing to be revealed closer to market arrival, the MINI 1965 Victory Edition is shaping up to be one of the most collectible modern MINIs ever built. For fans of heritage‑inspired performance cars, this limited-run tribute is a rally legend reborn.
