It was back in 2023 when “certification irregularities” were discovered at Daihatsu, hampering the Japanese brand’s success. Since then, the brand has been through various restructures, struggling to progress. Now, Toyota are backing Daihatsu for a fresh start.
The team have been retrained to spot these issues and prevent this from happening again. A result of Toyota’s famous ‘genba’ philosophy where change and feedback originates from the factory floor, a rebirth spearheaded by none other than Akio Toyota himself as featured in the video above. Let’s hope that this new start produces more cult cars and kei sportscars like the Copen!
