To date, more than 1 million Porsche Macans have rolled out of the brand’s plant in Leipzig, Germany. Launched in 2013, the compact SUV has gone on to achieve significant global success for Porsche. In 2024 alone, 82,795 cars were delivered to customers!

Leipzig of course was Porsche’s second site after Stuttgart, producing the Panamera, Cayenne as well as the Carrera GT through the years.

The Leipzig plant was heavily upgraded between 2011 and 2013, becoming a fully fledged factory, allowing for production of the Macan to take place there. More recently, the plant has been revamped to prepare for “the era of electromobility” as Gerd Rupp, Chairman of the Management Board of Porsche put it.

Work undertaken in 2011 saw the plant receive its own body and paint shop, creating 1,500 new jobs in the process. Thanks to the Macan’s success, Porsche has become one of the most notable employers within the Central Germany region.

The work isn’t over just yet though with more upgrades planned for the Leipzig facility, including another body shop as well as an axle production facility. After all, the site manufactures cars with combustion, hybrid and electric powertrains, on a single production line too!

It was optioned with ‘Black’ and ‘Chalk’ two tone leather, ‘Adaptive Sports Seats’, a heated ‘GT Sports’ leather steering wheel, heads up display with AR and a panoramic roof. It was collected from the Porsche Experience Center Leipzig by its new owner earlier in the month.
