Toyota Ramps Up Hybrid Production at West Virginia Plant

Toyota North America, the brand’s USA market subsidiary has committed an investment of $8 million into its West Virginia plant which they have operated since 1996. Total investment in the facility has now surpassed $2.8 billion with the latest round going towards assembly of the brand’s new hybrid transaxles.

In an electrified vehicle, the hybrid transaxle is a component that regulates power transfer between the engine, electric motor and wheels. A task that Toyota’s systems have mastered over the course of two decades now! Production of these parts will begin in 2026 with supply going to Toyota and Lexus models of the future.

The move continues Toyota’s philosophy of “best in town” which means investing and manufacturing locally to support the economy in every country that Toyota operates in. 50,000 people are employed by Toyota alone in North America, they are spread over 11 manufacturing plants nationwide. The brand has no plans of reducing this anytime soon with an ongoing goal to grow their presence in the region and therefore both jobs and ongoing investment in the USA market.
