When Apollo Automobil unveiled the first production Apollo EVO at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, it was a celebration of 20 years of relentless innovation. The ‘Caribbean Dragon’ represents the pinnacle of this journey, serving as the track-only successor to the acclaimed Apollo Intensa Emozione.
For those unfamiliar with Apollo’s pedigree (yeah us too), the company’s track record speaks volumes. Founded as Gumpert Sportwagenmanufaktur in 2004 by former Audi Sport director Roland Gumpert, the brand has consistently pushed automotive boundaries. The original Gumpert Apollo smashed Top Gear’s power lap record in 2009, and just a year later, achieved a Nordschleife time of 7:11.57, a benchmark that competitors chased for nearly two years. Today, under new leadership but guided by the same principles of uncompromising performance, Apollo continues to be Germany’s only dedicated hypercar manufacturer.

The Art of the ‘Caribbean Dragon’ – A Masterclass in Customisation
What makes the ‘Caribbean Dragon’ truly exceptional isn’t just its performance, it’s the obsessive attention to detail that defines every iteration of the EVO. The exterior comprises more than 75 individual carbon fibre elements, each meticulously hand-painted and finished. The paintwork alone demanded over 1000 hours of labor, with eight layers of specialised paint applied to achieve an extraordinary depth that sparkles under natural light.

The color scheme itself tells a story. According to Apollo’s CEO Niko Konta, the ‘Caribbean Dragon’ name draws inspiration from “the contrast between brilliant white surfaces and deep blue accents.” The Pearl White paint features a bespoke Diamond Dust finish reminiscent of fine white sand, while Ocean Blue paint with a distinctive Blue Diamond finish evokes the clarity of Caribbean waters. This is visual poetry translated into automotive form.

Inside the cabin, the driver-centric architecture maintains this commitment to individualisation. The full carbon fibre monocoque is finished entirely in matching blue carbon, contrasted beautifully by topology-optimised, 3D-printed aluminium components coated in natural metallic finish.
The bespoke steering wheel features solid-milled aluminium hardware with blue carbon accents, wrapped in premium Ocean Blue leather with clean white contrast stitching. Custom bucket seats finished in Bright White and Ocean Blue leather complete the interior, each one hand-trimmed with an embroidered blue Apollo logo on the headrests.

The Dragon Skin Exhaust – A Living, Breathing Component
Perhaps the most innovative feature is Apollo’s signature ‘Dragon Skin’ exhaust system, which makes its debut on the EVO. Utilising advanced, weld-free 3D-printing techniques in natural titanium, this component provides monumental strength-to-weight and temperature resistance. But here’s where it gets remarkable: the natural titanium will dynamically transform in color over time, shifting to deep hues of blue as a direct response to the intense heat generated during track use. It’s a component that literally evolves with the car’s performance, a living, breathing insight to the machine’s raw power.
Raw Performance – The Beating Heart of Rebellion
Beneath this artistic masterpiece lies a beast built for the track. The Apollo EVO’s core is a newly developed full carbon fibre monocoque, flanked by carbon front and rear subframes and dedicated carbon crash structures. Weighing just 165kg, this core is 15% stiffer and 10% lighter than the previous Apollo IE tub, ensuring unparalleled safety and giving drivers supreme confidence to push the vehicle to its absolute limits.

The powerplant is where things get serious: a high-revving, naturally aspirated 6.3-litre V12 engine producing an astonishing 800hp and 765Nm of torque. Mated to a rigid six-speed sequential transmission, carbon ceramic brakes, and forged aluminium wheels (20-inch front, 21-inch rear) shod with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, the 1,300kg EVO rockets from 0-100 km/h in a blistering 2.7 seconds on its way to a top speed of 335 km/h.
Limited Edition – Only Ten Will Ever Be Built
This isn’t a car for everyone. The Apollo EVO is limited to just ten bespoke units, with each one being a unique expression of its owner’s vision. It’s the kind of hypercar that won’t fill your Instagram feed, instead, it represents membership in an extraordinarily exclusive club of automotive enthusiasts who understand the difference between performance and art.

Why This Matters
The Apollo EVO ‘Caribbean Dragon’ represents something increasingly rare in the hypercar world: a machine that refuses to compromise. There are no hybrid systems diluting the visceral driving experience, no driver aids overcomplicating the connection between human and machine. Instead, Apollo has created something pure, a track-focused instrument designed by people who genuinely understand what makes performance driving transcendent.

As the automotive industry races toward electrification and autonomy, the EVO stands as a defiant statement: there’s still room for naturally aspirated engines, manual transmissions, and unfiltered driving experiences. It’s Rebellious German Engineering at its finest, celebrating two decades of Apollo’s relentless pursuit of automotive excellence.
