Harley-Davidson has revealed a new version of its iconic Breakout cruiser, exercising their incredible naming muscle with the Blacked-Out Breakout bringing a darker, more aggressive look exclusively to Australia and New Zealand. Reworking one of the brand’s most distinctive factory customs, the new Breakout combines the model’s familiar “long and low” silhouette with a new blacked out trim treatment, Black Denim paint and a Blackline inspired graphics package. The result is a Breakout that leans further into the aesthetic that made the model a favourite with riders around our parts of the world.
A darker take on the Breakout
The Breakout has always been one of the more visually dramatic motorcycles in the Harley-Davidson Softail range. Its stretched profile, pronounced rake and broad rear tyre give it a stance that is difficult to mistake for anything else, and that really projects Harley’s image forward. For the new Blacked-Out Breakout, Harley-Davidson has concentrated on the details, replacing the existing trim across key components with darker finishes and pairing them with the Black Denim exterior.
In a perfect case of “if it ain’t broke”, the Breakout continues to be powered by Harley-Davidson’s Milwaukee-Eight 117 V-Twin. The engine provides the strong acceleration and torque expected from the large capacity cruiser, while the Breakout’s wide rear tyre and stretched chassis maintain the signature silhouette.
HD says the new version also retains modern rider technologies and premium cruiser comfort, to bring contemporary equipment expected of the latest generation without compromising the traditional visual character of the Breakout.

Yep, the Blacked-Out Breakout has been created specifically for the Australian and New Zealand markets, where the model has developed a strong following. That makes the new motorcycle a particularly interesting addition to the local Harley-Davidson range, where Harley-Davidson has taken an established favourite and pushed its factory-custom character aimed at those wanting something even more distinctive.
