Škoda Marks 10 Years of the Kodiaq With a 200kW Plug-in Hybrid and Laurin & Klement Trim

Škoda is celebrating a decade of the Kodiaq by adding a more powerful plug-in hybrid and bringing back the range-topping Laurin & Klement trim.

The Kodiaq has spent its first ten years doing something rather unglamorous: selling in big numbers. For the anniversary, Škoda is adding two new versions to the second-generation range. One is a more powerful plug-in hybrid. The other is the return of the Laurin & Klement trim.

The first Kodiaq made its public debut in Berlin in September 2016. Since then, customers have bought more than 1.2 million of them across more than 70 markets.

A Decade of Steady Sales

The Kodiaq ranks among the best-selling vehicles in its segment in several markets. These include Germany, the United Kingdom and Škoda’s home market, the Czech Republic. In 2025, it was the second best-selling model in the Škoda range.

With a record like that, it makes sense that Škoda is adding to the range rather than reworking the car.

More Punch for the Plug-in Hybrid

The more interesting change is under the bonnet. The Kodiaq now follows the Superb in offering a stronger plug-in hybrid. System output rises from 150kW to 200kW, and maximum torque reaches 400Nm.

To get there, Škoda has raised the output of the 1.5 TSI petrol engine to 130kW. It works with an 85kW electric motor. (Hybrid outputs never simply add together, so put the calculator away.) Like the existing version, the new one is front-wheel drive only.

Importantly, the extra power doesn’t appear to cost any electric range. The 25.7kWh battery carries over, and Škoda still claims more than 100km of all-electric driving. The 150kW version stays on sale, so the new model adds a more dynamic option rather than replacing it.

Škoda quotes combined figures of 1.4–1.5 l/100km and 12.5–13.2 kWh/100km, with CO₂ emissions of 31–34 g/km. These are standardised test results. As with any plug-in hybrid, real-world economy will depend on how often owners charge.

Laurin & Klement Returns

The Laurin & Klement name was already offered on the first-generation Kodiaq, and it now returns as the range-topping trim. Inside, it builds on the Suite or Suite Cognac interior options. It adds exclusive floor mats, aluminium-finish pedals and Laurin & Klement logos on the steering wheel and front headrests.

The front seats are AGR-certified for ergonomics and include an advanced massage function. Three-zone climate control and a 13-inch infotainment display come as standard.

Metallic Paint and Matrix Lights

On the outside, the bumpers and lower door mouldings are finished in body colour. Every paint option is metallic. Buyers can choose from three exclusive wheel designs:

  • 19-inch: Lefka alloys
  • 20-inch: Venus or Rila alloys

The roof rails are finished in silver. The D-pillar comes in a UDC finish, or in gloss black as an option. Laurin & Klement badges appear on the body, and LED Matrix headlights are standard.

Škoda quotes WLTP combined consumption of 5.3–7.9 l/100km and CO₂ emissions of 138–179 g/km for the Laurin & Klement, depending on specification.

Polishing a Proven Formula

Neither addition changes what the Kodiaq is. Instead, Škoda is giving buyers more choice at both ends of the range. The hybrid adds 50kW without giving up the claimed 100km of electric range, and that matters more to everyday owners than the new badges and trim.
