Range Rover has revealed a restored 1993 Range Rover Classic built specifically to complement the new Range Rover SV Ultra. The two vehicles will appear together at Monterey Car Week 2026 and go under the hammer at RM Sotheby’s on 14 August as an exclusive matched pair. It is a striking way to demonstrate what the brand’s bespoke commissioning service can do, and to put a very old and a very new Range Rover side by side in front of serious collectors.
A Colour That Connects Two Generations
The thread linking both vehicles is Titan Silver, a finish launched on the SV Ultra. The colour uses fine aluminium flake and advanced pigment technology to produce a highly reflective, iridescent surface. Applying it to a 33-year-old Classic is not a straightforward exercise, and Range Rover’s Classic Works team in Coventry spent around 2,000 hours on the restoration across fabrication, paint, trim, and final assembly.
The exterior detailing reinforces the connection. The Classic rides on 16-inch three-spoke wheels finished in Satin Platinum Atlas with diamond-turned contrast rims. Side trim has been removed to echo the cleaner surfacing of the SV Ultra, and the bonnet carries SV Ultra script. A plaque under the bonnet identifies it as the first bespoke matched pair commission.
Interior Craftsmanship Across the Decades
Inside, the Classic receives Ultrafabrics upholstery (a material not previously used in a Range Rover Classic) in the SV Ultra’s Orchid White and Cinder Grey duo-tone colourway. The dashboard is trimmed in Cinder Grey, with colour-matched air vents and speaker covers.
The steering wheel carries the same duo-tone treatment, and the seats feature the laser-crafted mosaic perforation pattern that debuted on the SV Ultra. Brushed aluminium door handles and colour-matched finishers complete the interior. The result is a cabin that reads as a deliberate echo of the modern car rather than a period restoration.
Mechanically, the Classic retains its original 3.9-litre V8 paired with a four-speed automatic gearbox, the drivetrain it left the factory with as a US-market County Edition. Range Rover says the engine, transmission, suspension, steering, and brakes all received comprehensive rebuilds, with mechanical authenticity as a guiding principle throughout.
Pebble Beach Preview and Auction Details
The matched pair makes its public debut at the RM Sotheby’s Auction Preview at the Monterey Conference Center, open to registered bidders and ticketed public visitors from 10am on 12–14 August. The live auction begins at 5.30pm on 14 August.
The display will also include the first Range Rover SV Ultra built for the US market, placing the newest and one of the oldest bespoke Range Rovers in the same room. Range Rover notes that its Classic commissioning service extends to custom colour palettes, embroidery, a wide range of trim materials, and a Match to Sample programme allowing clients to specify virtually any exterior colour.
Whether the matched pair concept translates into strong auction results remains to be seen. What it does confirm is that Range Rover’s Classic division is operating well beyond straightforward restorations, and that the brand sees heritage vehicles as a live part of its luxury proposition, not simply a nostalgic footnote.
