Polestar has unveiled a thrilling new lineup of ‘Arctic Circle’ vehicles, expanding on the unique formula first introduced with the Polestar 2 Arctic Circle back in 2022. This time, they’ve added the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 to the mix, creating a complete family of rally-inspired, one-off models that truly embody the Swedish brand’s performance heritage. These three Arctic Circle editions are set to make their grand debut at the 2025 FAT Ice Race in Zell am See, Austria, on February 1st.

Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller shared his excitement: “The Arctic Circle collection is a testament to our performance DNA, which is deeply rooted in motorsport and Scandinavian design. We test and refine our cars in the demanding conditions of the Arctic Circle, and at the FAT Ice Race, we’ll show that when it comes to ice, nothing beats a Polestar. We’re thrilled to be part of this incredible event, where car culture and performance take center stage.”

The Arctic Circle cars are the brainchild of Joakim Rydholm, Polestar’s Head of Driving Dynamics, who brings over 30 years of motorsport experience and multiple Swedish rally podium finishes to the table. Joakim and the Polestar team have infused each model with a unique rally-inspired character, tailored to its specific strengths.

Joakim explains, “The Polestar 2 Arctic Circle was something truly special, and applying that same spirit to our new SUVs has been both fun and challenging. We’ve collaborated with top-tier technology partners to create bespoke engineering solutions that highlight our performance DNA—and make these cars an absolute blast to drive.”
Built at Polestar’s Swedish R&D facilities, these Arctic Circle models share a common rally-inspired foundation: a raised ride height, custom 3-way adjustable Öhlins dampers, specialized Pirelli studded tires, and OZ Racing wheels (including the world premiere of the new ‘Rally Legend’ design). They also feature Stedi’s Quad Evo front spotlights and Recaro bucket seats, giving them an unmistakable rally vibe. Each car is then accessorized with unique touches like skis, roof racks, storage solutions, and recovery gear, showcasing Polestar’s brand partnerships.
Here’s a closer look at what sets each model apart:
- Polestar 2 Arctic Circle: This model features a 350 kW / 680 Nm dual-motor setup with a Performance Pack and software upgrade. It rides 30 mm higher than standard and comes equipped with 19” Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires with 250 studs for ice driving. For the road, it switches to Pirelli P Zero Winter tires. The interior boasts Recaro bucket seats, and it includes rally-inspired mud flaps, Swedish gold tow hooks, and a Thule WingBar Edge roof rail system.
- Polestar 3 Arctic Circle: With a more powerful 380 kW / 910 Nm dual-motor setup, this SUV rides 40 mm higher and features 20” Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires with 300 studs for ice. On the road, it uses Pirelli Scorpion Winter 2 tires. It also introduces the world premiere of OZ Racing Rally Legend wheels and includes a Stedi ST4K roof light bar, a custom roof basket, and additional recovery gear like snow ladders and a Fiskars SnowXpert shovel.
- Polestar 4 Arctic Circle: This model packs a 400 kW / 686 Nm dual-motor setup and rides 20 mm higher. Like the Polestar 3, it uses 20” Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires with 300 studs for ice and Pirelli Scorpion Winter 2 tires for the road. It also features the new OZ Racing Rally Legend wheels and adds a drift-inspired hydraulic hand brake for extra fun on the ice.

Each of these Arctic Circle models is a unique expression of Polestar’s performance DNA, designed to deliver an exhilarating driving experience in the most challenging conditions. I was already drooling over the 2 when it was first unveiled, but this is just snow-melting hotness. If going sideways in deep snow is your jam, you might have found your new sleigh.
