Among the hustle and bustle of New York City, Mini’s John Cooper Works hatch was right at home as it toured the city of eight million recently. Specified in White with Chilli Red accents, the hot hatch was a perfect match for The Big Apple’s energy, causing a stir in Times Square.

“Ambitious, self-confident and restless”, qualities that can be applied to New Yorkers but also to Mini’s JCW. Powered by a 2 litre four cylinder Twinpower Turbo, the 170kW hatch was winning drag races between the lights. Go kart like handling ensured it could duck and weave through city traffic while Chilli Red brake calipers would bring to a halt for pedestrians.

Even on the busy streets of New York, Mini’s distinctive design and round LED headlights made sure it stood out. The new generation car also has an improved suite of safety technology with twelve ultrasonic sensors and four surround cameras. A 3D visualization function on the navigation unit ensures that the driver and passengers could never forget what city they were in and in this case, New York was a memorable backdrop for the Mini.
