Kia has officially unveiled the new Sportage, aiming to redefine standards in the compact SUV segment with a focus on design, innovation, technology, and sustainability. As Kia’s best-selling model with over 7 million units sold globally, the Sportage now enters its newest generation with an array of upgrades tailored for modern adventure and lifestyle needs.

Design: Fusion of Boldness and Luxury
Centred on Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, the new Sportage balances smooth, soft surfaces with rugged, powerful forms, creating a striking presence equally suited for city exploration and off-road adventure. The model boasts eye-catching LED Star Map lighting, Kia’s distinctive tiger nose grille, and a selection of stylish wheels ranging from 17 to 19 inches, with special designs for the ‘GT-Line’ variants.

The interior experience is equally impressive, featuring a cockpit with dual 12.3-inch curved panoramic displays, a new 10-inch head-up display, and a minimalist dashboard emphasised by hidden air vents and a two-spoke steering wheel. Innovative use of sustainable materials like Dinamica’s recycled microfibre suede (up to 75% recycled polyester) further underscores Kia’s sustainability focus. Future mono-material versions promise nearly 100% recycled polyester content.
Space remains a strong point, with over 1 metre of rear legroom for second-row passengers and a flexible cargo area. The hybrid (HEV) model offers up to 587 litres of rear cargo capacity, expanding to 1,776 litres with seats folded, plus a dual-level cargo floor for versatility.

Advanced Connectivity and Convenience
Technological advancements lead the way in the new Sportage. The Connected Car Navigation Cockpit integrates infotainment, driver assistance, and navigation functions within easy reach, supported by dual panoramic displays and head-up functionality. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Kia Connect features, and over-the-air updates enhance the digital experience.
Kia’s Feature-on-Demand (FOD) platform allows drivers to add entertainment features like arcade games and video streaming via WebOS, while in-car payment, Wi-Fi hotspot for up to five devices, and sophisticated digital key sharing heighten convenience. Audio enthusiasts will appreciate the Harman Kardon premium system, and a 360-degree Surround View Monitor with 3D view boosts driver confidence.
Driving Dynamics: Efficient Powertrains and Safety
At launch, the new Sportage offers both petrol and hybrid (HEV) powertrains. The 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 150ps, while the hybrid system delivers a combined 239ps with options for front-wheel and all-wheel drive. Advanced transmission technology ensures smooth and dynamic driving, complemented by aerodynamic improvements and a low centre of gravity.

The Sportage is equipped with comprehensive Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS):
- Auto Emergency Braking with detection for pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles
- Highway Driving Assist 2 for adaptive speed, distance control, lane changes, and evasive steering
- Multi-mode audio/climate touchpad, wireless charging, and digital key capability add further to the modern driving experience.
Dimensions and Practicalities
The new European-spec Sportage measures 4,540 mm in length, 1,865 mm in width, and 1,645 mm in height, with a 2,680 mm wheelbase. Interior space is generous, with over 1,000 mm legroom for both front and rear occupants, and flexible cargo space as outlined above. Fuel tank capacity is 54 litres for ICE and 52 litres for HEV versions.
Production and Availability
This latest Sportage will be produced at Kia’s plant in Žilina, Slovakia, with European showroom arrivals scheduled for the third quarter of 2025. Full UK pricing and specifications will be released closer to the on-sale date.

With its blend of bold design, luxury interiors, advanced technology, efficient powertrains, and a commitment to sustainability, the new Kia Sportage stands poised to further solidify its leadership in the compact SUV segment. It meets the diversified needs of modern drivers, offering versatility for both city life and outdoor adventure while looking to the future of responsible mobility.
