Garmin Launches CIRQA Smart Band, a Screen-Free Health Tracker

Garmin has announced the CIRQA Smart Band, its first screen-free smart band, and the pitch is straightforward: comprehensive health tracking without a display demanding your attention, and without an ongoing subscription fee. In a wearables market where monthly charges have become almost standard, that last point is worth noting.

The band is available now at a suggested retail price of US$199.99. All data is accessed through the Garmin Connect app rather than on the wrist itself, which is the central design decision here, keep the hardware discreet, push the detail to your phone.

What It Tracks

Worn continuously, the CIRQA Smart Band monitors a wide range of metrics around the clock. The headline health features include:

  • Wrist-based heart rate monitoring
  • Body Battery energy monitoring
  • Pulse Ox (blood oxygen saturation, where available)
  • Stress tracking
  • Skin temperature
  • Sleep staging, sleep score, heart rate variability, respiration, and nap detection
  • Daily steps and calories burned

Women’s health features are also included. Users can track their menstrual cycle and pregnancy, and skin temperature data recorded during sleep can improve period predictions and past ovulation estimates. The band also supports data syncing with the FDA-cleared Natural Cycles birth control app, though that app requires its own separate subscription.

Battery Life and Design Intent

Garmin rates the CIRQA Smart Band at up to 10 days of battery life. That figure puts it comfortably ahead of most smartwatches, which typically need charging every one to two days. The absence of a screen is the obvious reason, and Garmin is clearly positioning that as a feature rather than a compromise.

The idea is that the band sits quietly on the wrist (day and night) gathering data without interrupting the wearer. Sleep tracking in particular benefits from continuous wear, and the comprehensive sleep breakdown Garmin describes is only useful if the device is actually on when you go to bed. A seven-to-ten-day battery makes that considerably more realistic than a device requiring nightly charging.

Where It Fits in Garmin’s Lineup

Garmin describes the CIRQA Smart Band as a complement to its existing smartwatches and wellness monitors rather than a replacement for them. The intent appears to be flexibility, users who want detailed data without the bulk or cost of a full smartwatch, or those who want a lighter option for sleep and recovery tracking alongside a more capable device for workouts.

The no-subscription model is the sharpest commercial angle here. Rival health bands from other manufacturers often gate their most useful insights behind monthly fees. Garmin is betting that a higher upfront price with no recurring cost will appeal to buyers who are wary of subscription fatigue. Whether the CIRQA’s feature set justifies that price against the broader competition will depend on how well the Garmin Connect app presents the data, which is, ultimately, where this product lives or dies.
