If the legendary Finke Desert could whisper, it would probably be murmuring about the sheer audacity of the Ford Ranger Raptor. For the third consecutive year, this blue-oval beast has thundered its way to victory in the Production 4WD class at the Tatts Finke Desert Race, an event so grueling it makes lesser trucks consider a quiet life in the suburbs . This latest triumph, dated June 10, 2025, wasn’t just a win; it was a statement, etched in record-breaking time across the treacherous 460-kilometre course from Alice Springs to Aputula (Finke) and back.

The dynamic duo of Brad and Adam Lovell were once again at the helm, wrestling the Ranger Raptor through what were described as “particularly demanding track conditions” this year. They didn’t just cross the finish line; they obliterated the previous benchmark for the Production 4WD class, setting a new record and further cementing the Raptor’s formidable reputation . “Getting the third win here at Finke, especially on such a tough track and setting a new class record, is just incredible,” beamed driver Brad Lovell. “This Ranger Raptor is an absolute weapon. It handled everything we threw at it, proving its toughness and performance”. One almost pities the desert.

This Finke hat-trick (2023, 2024, and now 2025) extends the Ranger Raptor’s rather remarkable undefeated streak in major off-road races . It seems this truck simply doesn’t know how to lose. Before it decided to make Finke its personal playground, it had already conquered its class at the iconic 2022 Baja 1000 . It’s building a resume that suggests it’s the undisputed heavyweight champion of production-class desert racing, remaining unbeaten in every event it has dared to enter.

Ford Performance executives are, understandably, rather pleased. Mark Rushbrook, Global Director, Ford Performance, hailed the “three-peat at Finke” as “phenomenal,” adding that the truck “is a testament to Ford Performance engineering and its ability to deliver extreme capability and durability in the harshest environments. Its undefeated record across Baja and Finke speaks volumes about its DNA”. It’s the kind of DNA that likely considers sand dunes a light snack.

Justin Capicchiano, Special Vehicle Engineering Program Manager, echoed these sentiments. “Designing a truck that can perform like this in production class racing is what we strive for,” he stated. “The Finke Desert Race is the ultimate test, and for the Ranger Raptor to not only win three times in a row but also set a new record shows the strength and resilience built into the race-prepared vehicle”.

So, as the dust settles over Alice Springs yet again, the message is clear: the Ford Ranger Raptor isn’t just participating in off-road races; it’s dominating them, setting new standards, and perhaps making other contenders rethink their life choices. The 2025 Tatts Finke Desert Race victory simply reinforces its position as the high-performance off-road production vehicle by which all others are measured. One can only wonder what challenge it will conquer next, presumably with the same blend of rugged engineering and an insatiable appetite for victory.
