Now officially a global ambassador for Alfa Romeo, production of the 100,000th Tonale was completed earlier this month. The particular car in question was a Sprint model in Rosso Alfa. Production of the Tonale takes place at Stellantis’ “Giambattista Vico” plant in Pomigliano d’Arco (Naples/Napoli).
Unveiled in 2022, Tonale saw Alfa Romeo’s sporty DNA segue into a future of electrification. The car features the Italian brand’s distinctive design and notable attention to detail. It was the first Alfa Romeo to offer hybrid and plug-in technology, it will also be the last Alfa to carry the brand’s traditional shield front and off centre number plate.
The site at Pomigliano d’Arco is one of Stelantis’ most advanced production facilities, it features a high level of automation and has previously been awarded the best plant in Europe. Refurbished in 2021, it has been the home of Alfa Romeo production since 1971 and has seen more than 5 million of the brand’s vehicles roll through its doors in that time.
