Lexus New Zealand has achieved remarkable growth in 2024, finishing as the second-highest selling luxury car brand in the country based on vehicle registrations. With registrations climbing from 1,022 in 2022 to a record 1,328 in 2024, Lexus has solidified its position as a leading luxury marque in the New Zealand automotive sector.
Andrew Davis, Vice President of Lexus New Zealand, attributed this success to the expanding electrified vehicle lineup, an enhanced customer benefits package, and significant investment by the Lexus dealer network in dealership upgrades. Despite challenging economic conditions, this dedication has propelled the brand forward. New dealership developments in 2024 included the opening of Lexus of Christchurch and Lexus of Auckland City, with Lexus of East Auckland set to open in March 2025, alongside the relocation of Lexus of Wellington.

Lexus’ electrified range has grown to be the most extensive in its history, offering nine out of its 11 model ranges with hybrid, plug-in hybrid (PHEV), or battery electric (BEV) powertrains. These accounted for 88% of sales in 2024, signaling strong customer interest in sustainability. The introduction of new models, such as the NX 450h+ Limited (a PHEV) and the RX 500h Black Line edition in 2025, is expected to continue this momentum.
The Lexus NX emerged as the top-selling luxury vehicle in New Zealand with 347 units sold, while the Lexus LX 500d also recorded its best-ever year with 128 units sold. Since establishing its operations in New Zealand, Lexus has sold over 16,000 new vehicles, further cementing its strong market presence.

Beyond sales achievements, Lexus strengthened ties with customers and communities through sponsorships like the ASB Classic tennis tournament and Lexus Urban Polo, as well as initiatives such as the Lexus Design Awards. The awards aim to inspire student designers from Auckland University of Technology and the University of Auckland to explore concepts around anticipating, innovating, and captivating while focusing on sustainability.
“We are proud that our customers continue to value Lexus’ commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovative design,” said Andrew Davis. “Our focus remains on delivering vehicles and services that meet the high expectations of luxury buyers and contribute to a better tomorrow”.
As Lexus begins 2025, the future looks bright with new dealership openings, expanded electrified offerings, and a continued focus on community engagement to drive further growth.
