Honda Racing Brings High Performance Oils to the Road

Honda Racing Corporation USA or HRC is the Japanese brand’s motorsport arm with a focus on high performance in North America, specifically for both the Honda and Acura brands. Now, HRC has announced the development of its Formula R product range, a series of engine oils tested on the racetrack and ready for the road. The range will be unveiled at the 2025 SEMA Show in Las Vegas and will then be available next year for consumers.

Developed in collaboration with Phillips 66 who have 15 years of experience working with Honda and Acura as well as sponsoring the two brands as an official lubricant provider for Acura ARX-06 racecars. The new Formula R range will be offered in six different grades, 0W-16, 0W-20, 0W-40, 5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30. All oils on offer exceed both API SP and GF-7A standards to ensure that they meet the quality expectations of Honda and Acura.

The 0W-40 oil in particular is the crown jewel of the range as it was used in the championship winning IMSA Civic Type R TCR racecar. Formula R will be available across Honda and Acura dealerships from spring 2026, something that Civic Type R and Integra Type S owners in particular will be eagerly awaiting.
