The story begins in 1949 with just one motorcycle, the Honda Dream D-Type. 76 years later and Honda Motorcycles is celebrating 500 million units produced globally, how’s that for a success story! Mass production of its two wheelers officially began at its first overseas plant in Belgium in 1963 with the brand following its belief of “producing locally where there is demand.”

The 100 million milestone was brought up in 1997, 200 million in 2008, 300 million in 2014 and 400 million in 2019! 2018 was also the first time in Honda’s history where they produced more than 20 million motorcycles in one year. 2024 also saw the introduction of electric two wheelers in addition to the brand’s ICE lineup.
Honda’s motorcycle production now spans 23 countries including the likes of Brazil, China, India, Italy, Mexico, Nigeria, North America, Pakistan and the Philippines. 37 entities and a dealer network of more than 30,000 help service their customers! The goal still remains the same though, to offer products that help people realize “the joy and freedom of mobility”, all while improving their business structure and carbon neutrality.
