Skoda Celebrates 21 Years of Support for Tour de France

As the 111th edition of Tour de France kicks off, Skoda are celebrating their 21st year of being the “official main partner” for the world’s most famous cycling event. This year also marks the first time that the Tour will not finish in Paris due to the Olympic Games.

205 vehicles will be provided by Skoda for the race, mainly made up of electric and plug-in hybrid options. A Skoda Enyaq iV and Superb iV will serve as the ‘Red Car’ for Christian Prudhomme, the Tour’s director who will lead the peloton throughout the race. This year, the Tour includes 205 cars, 176 riders, 21 stages and 3,500 kilometres, concluding in Nice on the 21st of July. This year’s Tour covers Italy, San Marino, Monaco and France, comprising of eight flat sections, four hilly, seven mountain and two time trials.

Skoda have also confirmed their continued support for the sport of cycling, announcing that their partnership with the Tour has been extended until 2028. Skoda are also supporting Tour de France Femmes avec Swift for the third year in a row. The Skoda Design Team are also the ones responsible for crafting the crystal glass trophies for the winner and leaders, the brand have also sponsored the points leader’s green jersey for ten years running now!
