Polestar, the Swedish electric car manufacturer has signed a multi-year agreement with Candela, a Swedish hydrofoil electric boat company. Polestar will supply batteries and charging technology to mark one of the world’s first EV tech collaborations between the automotive and aquatic industries.

Common values of sustainability and innovation brought the two brands together with Candela’s electric hydrofoils predicted to use up to 80% less energy than traditional motorboats at high speed. The crafts produce zero emissions and minimal noise produce to create a light environmental footprint.

Polestar’s CEO, Thomas Ingelnath expressed his admiration and support for Candela’s hydrofoils in their aim to clean the world’s waterways. Candela’s CEO, Gustav Hasselkog called the partnership a “dream” as the high capacity batteries from Polestar will help speed up the adoption of electric boats.
