As preparations ramp up for Audi’s debut in Formula 1, the German brand has completed its complete takeover of Sauber Holding AG, the predecessor of the Audi factory team. As part of this move, Mattia Binotto has been hired as the COO and CTO at Sauber Motorsport AG.
Binotto has more than 25 years of F1 experience with Ferrari, most recently as the team boss of Scuderia Ferrari. He will now take the helm at Audi’s new venture, to oversee both the operations and sporting success of the team. Audi are setting up the team so it can act independently, a goal they hope will make for efficient decision making within their newest motorsport arm.
Finally, Oliver Hoffmann, Charmain of the Board for Sauber and Andrea Seidl, ex-CEO of Sauber Technologies AG will leave their respective roles.
