Aston Martin Awarded 9M GBP for Electrification Programme

The Advanced Propulsion Centre UK (APC), a government division of the United Kingdom has awarded Aston Martin 9M GBP worth of funding. The purpose of this is to support the research and development of Aston’s in-house luxury battery electric platform.

Aston emerged the winner after a competitive process with the funding going towards investment in the brand’s digital toolchain, electrification training and weight reduction tech for vehicles. This serves as a step in the right direction for the brand’s ‘Racing Green’ sustainability strategy. Aston have committed 2B GBP to advanced technologies in the transition from internal combustion to battery electric over the next five years!

Called Project ELEVATION, the initiative is led by Aston Martin and made up of six partners, the aim of which is to develop a lightweight 800V battery pack and twin front electric motors for a BEV platform that can be used across supercars and SUVs.

APC has invested funds of over 1.4B GBP in the automotive industry since its inception over 10 years ago, the aim to deliver on the nation’s net zero ambition. Aston Martin will launch their first all electric vehicle in 2025 with the brand offering a fully electrified range by 2030!
