Red Bull Signs On as Title Sponsor of MotoGP’s New Adelaide Grand Prix

MotoGP’s move to Adelaide now has a name above the door! Red Bull has signed a multi-year deal to become title sponsor of the Australian Grand Prix, starting with the championship’s first visit to the South Australian capital in 2027.

The first Red Bull Grand Prix of Australia runs from 12 to 14 November 2027, and the deal also covers 2028. That’s a fairly strong vote of confidence in an event that hasn’t held a single race yet.

A City Circuit With Formula One Roots

The race will run on a newly unveiled 4.13km, 15-corner circuit in the centre of Adelaide. The layout is a reworked version of the city’s well known Formula One circuit. It keeps familiar sections such as Stag Corner, Rundle Road, Brewery Bend and Dequetteville Terrace. MotoGP says the urban setting is unlike anything else on its calendar, as bringing the bikes into the heart of a city is a different proposition from a circuit out of town, for fans and riders alike. The race date matters too: Adelaide is scheduled as the second-to-last round of the 2027 season, so the title fight could arrive there with plenty still to settle.

Red Bull is no newcomer to two wheels. MotoGP points to the brand’s long-standing backing of motorcycle racing and its support for young riders coming through the sport. According to the organisers, the partnership will deliver new fan experiences, activations across the city and entertainment throughout race week. Of course, those are the usual promises attached to any title deal. Nobody has said yet what fans will actually get on the ground.

Organisers and Government Talk It Up

Carlos Ezpeleta, MotoGP’s Deputy CEO, called Australia one of the championship’s most passionate and important markets. He also described Red Bull as “the perfect partner” to build the event’s future. South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas was just as upbeat, calling the deal “a massive coup” for the state. He said it was the kind of global partnership that brings international exposure and helps make Adelaide a must visit stop on the calendar.

Both men are, naturally, selling the event. Even so, a brand of Red Bull’s reach signing for two years before the first race says more than any press-release adjective. For MotoGP, a big name title sponsor helps a brand new venue feel established from the start. For Adelaide, it strengthens the city’s claim to be one of Australia’s leading event destinations.

And for us enthusiasts? Well, it should be obvious: MotoGP bikes on a reworked version of a famous F1 street layout, at the second-to-last round of the season, is a date worth circling on the 2027 calendar, how about that?
