Gunther Werks Introduces Five-Car Brundle Edition Turbo Designed by Charlie Brundle

Gunther Werks has revealed the Brundle Edition Turbo, a five-car tribute to Le Mans winner Martin Brundle that was styled by his daughter, the designer Charlie Brundle.

Most special editions get a racing driver’s signature and a plaque. Gunther Werks has gone further. Its new Brundle Edition Turbo was developed with Le Mans winner Martin Brundle and designed by his daughter, Charlie.

The California-based company will build just five examples. Each one uses its existing Turbo platform, with a livery and cabin that trace Martin’s career in Grand Prix and endurance racing.

A Family Project, by Design

Charlie Brundle wasn’t brought in just for the name. She has worked at McLaren Automotive, Aston Martin and Jaguar Land Rover, and she led the design here. That makes this a tribute from daughter to father, which is far more personal than the usual co-branding exercise.

The starting point was Martin’s crash helmet. Its colours inspired a two-tone pearl livery, painted by hand. Gunther Werks says the design also hides personal references and “Easter eggs” inside and out, though it hasn’t listed them all. (Finding them is presumably half the fun for five owners.)

860 Horsepower and Three Pedals

Underneath, the numbers are serious. An air-cooled 4.0-litre flat-six produces 860 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque, calibrated for high-octane fuel. Drive goes through a six-speed manual gearbox. Nice.

That pairing matters, because few cars with this much power still let the driver change gear. Gunther Werks also fits bespoke double-wishbone suspension and track-focused chassis tuning. Martin says that, despite the race-car performance, the company’s cars stay civilised and usable.

His involvement goes beyond the paint, too. He helped refine the dedicated Sport and Track calibrations. The company says these sharpen precision and response. That’s the manufacturer’s claim, but having a driver of his experience sign off the settings carries some weight.

Aero and braking upgrades complete the hardware. These include an adjustable high-downforce rear wing, front canards and an upgraded Brembo CCMR braking system with forged billet calipers.

Details for the Devoted

Inside, the dashboard carries one of Martin’s sayings: “The most important bit of the car is the nut holding the steering wheel.” It sits alongside his helmet insignia and hand-signed end plates. Charlie’s MB monogram is embossed into the headrests.

The exterior livery continues into the seat upholstery, and a label on the seat bolster references the colours of the Grand Prix cars Martin drove. The exterior adds:

  • Smoked front LED indicators and smoked taillights
  • One-off forged magnesium wheels etched with Brundle branding
  • Rear decklid lettering and exclusive door sills
  • A one-off key design

Each buyer also gets a Bell HP77 helmet homologated for Formula 1. It comes in matching livery and is signed by Martin.

Where It Goes From Here

The car makes its public debut at the Concours at Wynn Las Vegas. Gunther Werks hasn’t published pricing. With only five cars to sell, it hardly needs to advertise them widely.

The brief is what stands out. This isn’t a sticker pack on an existing model. A veteran driver shaped how it drives, and his daughter shaped how it looks. For a boutique builder, few stories could sell five cars more convincingly.
