Peugeot Sport will continue its partnership with French tech giant Capgemini. The two have so far worked together on Peugeot’s 9X8 hypercar which competes in FIA’s World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC). Using data and artificial intelligence, the focus has been on improving both the hypercar’s performance and carbon footprint!
In the two years since Peugeot Sport and Capgemini began their collaboration, the tech brand has built a data analytics platform to crunch records from both real and simulated races. Add in variables like the drivers, circuits and race conditions for further complexity! An AI model now sits in the 9X8’s onboard computer, helping adjust the car’s setup in real time. This technology has also helped race engineers to rapidly process and analyse data, completing what was previously a day’s work in 10 minutes!
The development doesn’t stop there as the two will continue to put the AI model to work, identifying anomalies during testing and races. Overall, the goal for Peugeot Sport is to keep innovating and improving the performance of its 9X8 hypercar. Not only that though as Capgemini have been helping the team track its carbon footprint and subsequently reduce it! 30 actions have so far been taken to reduce greenhouse gasses by 2030 across the Stellantis Motorsport portfolio. These include actions like using maritime freight wherever possible rather than air freight, using bio-fuel and more. Metrics will be used to keep track of the progress being made there too!
