Hot Robot With a Cool Agenda: Nékojita FuFu Blows into CES 2025

In what can only be described as the most adorable solution to a very specific yet widespread niche, Yukai Engineering has unleashed its latest eccentric marvel: Nékojita FuFu, a mini-robot that quite literally blows on your food and drinks so you don’t have to. Yes, it’s real, and it’s trying very hard to make your life a “breeze”—pun absolutely intended.

This pocket-sized breath simulator was unveiled at CES® Unveiled on January 5, 2025, turning heads, tongues, and maybe even a few bowls of overheated soup, as it showcased its signature (and we can only assume patented) “Fu-ing System” that mimics human breath patterns to cool food. Does it have modes like “I’ve Got This!” for power-blasting stubborn ramen steam and “Not Gonna Spill” for your more delicate lapses in table etiquette? You bet it does!

Where did this wild idea come from, you ask? Apparently, a dad on the Yukai Engineering team found himself so winded from blowing on hot baby food for his kid that he decided it was time for humanity to evolve—by outsourcing heavy breathing to robots. What started as a quirky invention during one of Yukai’s 2024 Make-a-Thons is now a legit product about to hit the crowdfunding scene in Japan for around ¥3,800 (about $25 USD). And, honestly, it’s kind of genius. Stick it to your cup or bowl, let it cool your scalding coffee or sadistic miso soup, and marvel as the Nékojita FuFu does its thing.

Its name? Nékojita, literally translating to “cat tongue,” is a term used in Japan to describe people with sensitive mouths (and no, we’re not judging). Combine that with the universal “fu fu” sound you make when cooling food, and voilà—a product name that’s practically begging for its own animated commercial. This little bot even flexes some legit stats: cooling liquids from a fiery 190°F (88°C) to a drinkable 160°F (71°C) in just three minutes—definitely faster than you awkwardly panting over your cup like a frustrated dragon.

But there’s more! Yukai is no stranger to kooky bots that turn mundane experiences into lovable quirks. From their therapeutic nibbling pillow, AMAGAMI HAM HAM, to Qoobo, the tail-wagging cushion, they’ve cornered the market on “things you didn’t know you needed, but now weirdly can’t live without.” So, expect their newest robo-pal to charm your table and maybe even defeat your mortal nemesis: burnt tongues.

For those that don’t/didn’t catch Nékojita FuFu in action at CES 2025, head to its dedicated website to dive deeper into the whimsical genius. Whether or not the world truly needed a robot for this problem, one thing is clear—Yukai Engineering just made meal times a little cooler. Literally – purrrr.
