2024 was a record year for Volvo as the Swedish brand sold 763,389 cars during the calendar year! A figure that was up 8% on 2023’s figures. In December alone, Volvo sold 73,804 cars worldwide.
Electrified models saw a major increase in sales with 175,194 of them being sold in 2024, a 54% increase on 2023. While plug-in hybrid vehicle sales were up 16% with 177,593 sold in 2024. Even more impressive was the fact that 46% of Volvo’s sales in 2024 were for electrified models while pure EVs made up 23%.
Europe was Volvo’s strongest market with 369,685 cars being sold in the region while China came in second with 156,370 being sold in the country. Third on the list was the United States, acquiring 125,243 cars in 2024. Funnily enough, Volvo’s sales in both China and the US dropped in 2024 when compared to the previous year.
