Pune-based Vayve Mobility has unveiled the Vayve Eva, India’s first solar-powered electric car, at the Auto Expo 2025. Aimed squarely at eco-conscious urban commuters, this futuristic vehicle merges sustainability with affordability, offering a starting price of just NZ$6,500 (ex-showroom).
The Vayve Eva comes in three variants: Nova, Stella, and Vega. The Nova—the base variant—offers a 9 kWh battery, 125 km range, and halogen headlights, while the Stella (mid-spec) features a larger 12.6 kWh battery with a 175 km range and luxuries like a panoramic sunroof and auto AC. At the top of the lineup is the Vega, powered by an 18 kWh pack, delivering a notable range of 250 km and additional conveniences such as height-adjustable driver’s seats, steering-mounted controls, and a fast-charging DC port capable of juicing up the battery from 10% to 70% in just 20 minutes.
What truly sets the Eva apart is its solar roof. The integrated solar panels can generate enough energy to add 10 km of range per day, translating to up to 3,000 km of solar-assisted driving annually, according to the company . This makes the Eva an excellent choice for urban dwellers looking to reduce their carbon footprint and take fewer trips to the charging station.

Designed as a two-seater quadricycle with automatic transmission and a balance of modern features, this vehicle doesn’t skimp on comfort or safety. It includes regenerative braking, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and even a digital twin-screen setup. The Vega variant takes safety up a notch with a driver airbag and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
For those worried about battery costs, the Eva’s innovative battery rental program charges Rs 2 per kilometer driven, with minimum caps based on the chosen variant. This flexible subscription model could potentially make electric mobility more accessible and bring down upfront costs.
However, aspiring buyers need to exercise patience. While bookings are open at a token amount of Rs 5,000, deliveries are only expected in the latter half of 2026. As an enticing perk, the first 25,000 customers will enjoy a free three-year connectivity package and extended battery warranties.
India’s first solar electric car is more than just a vehicle—it’s a symbol of the country’s burgeoning focus on green energy and affordable EV innovation. With no direct competitors in its segment, the Vayve Eva is shaping up to be a trendsetter, paving the way for a future where the sun fuels your journey. It’s damn cute looking too!
