Toyota Updates 2027 Corolla Hatchback With Larger Screens

The Corolla Hatchback has never been a car that shouts for attention, but Toyota (USA) has given the 2027 model enough updates to make it worth a second look. Larger digital displays, a new options bundle, fresh colours, and newly available accessory wheels round out a mid-cycle refresh that keeps the compact hatchback competitive in a crowded segment.

Bigger Screens Across the Range

The most tangible change for 2027 is the move to larger digital instrumentation. The entry-level SE grade now comes standard with a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, an upgrade over its predecessor. Step up to the XSE and you get a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster paired with a 10.5-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen as standard equipment.

For SE buyers who want the larger screen without moving to the XSE, Toyota has introduced a new SE Premium Package. It bundles the 10.5-inch multimedia system with the 12.3-inch gauge cluster, offering a meaningful upgrade without requiring a full grade change. All grades retain wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, along with dual Bluetooth connectivity and a six-speaker audio system.

Powertrain and Platform Unchanged

Underneath, nothing has changed — and that is not a criticism. The 2027 Corolla Hatchback continues to use Toyota’s 2.0-litre Dynamic Force four-cylinder engine, producing 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy is rated at 32 mpg city, 41 mpg highway, and 35 mpg combined on the SE grade.

The Dynamic Shift CVT carries over as well, featuring a physical launch gear for initial acceleration before transitioning to the CVT’s pulley system. Paddle shifters with 10 pre-set ratios are standard across all grades, as are Normal, Eco, and Sport drive modes. The car rides on the TNGA-C platform and is assembled at Toyota’s Tsutsumi Plant in Aichi, Japan.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 remains standard across the range, covering pre-collision warning, lane departure alert, and automatic high beams, among other functions. Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert is also standard on all grades.

New Colours and Wheel Options

Three new exterior colours join the palette for 2027: Inked, Blueprint, and Blueprint with Black Roof. They sit alongside existing options including Inferno, Classic Silver Metallic, Finish Line Red, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Wind Chill Pearl, and Ice Cap, with several two-tone black roof combinations also available.

Toyota Genuine accessory 18-inch gloss white alloy wheels are newly available for buyers wanting a sharper visual accent. These require a separate purchase of 225/40R18 tyres on the SE grade.

What about the Sedan?

Toyota USA has confirmed that information on the 2027 Corolla Sedan will follow at a later date. For now, the hatchback takes the spotlight — and with a more capable interior tech stack and a broader colour range, it makes a reasonable case for itself in a class where screen size and connectivity increasingly influence buying decisions.
